Are you planning a little do it yourself home makeover on your kitchen'  If so, there are many things to keep in mind when it comes to creating the perfect kitchen that you will enjoy and that will also add value to your home.

Looking at Floor Plans

Having great floor plans is definitely the key to creating efficient kitchens.  Most people spend a great deal of time in their kitchens and they need an efficient workspace that will make it possible for them to complete great meals. Therefore, you should put a great deal of thought into the floor plans that will be used in your kitchen.

Ideally, you should create a work triangle.  A work triangle is a triangle that is formed when you create imaginary lines from your main workstations.  These generally include your stove and oven, your sink, and your counter space.  By forming a work triangle, you can easily and quickly move from one station to the next while preparing a meal.

Considering Counter Space

Kitchens with little counter space are difficult to work in, so look for opportunities to add more counter space to your work site.  One popular option is to add an island or a peninsula to the kitchen, with the only difference between these features being that an island is not connected to any walls while a peninsula is connected to one wall.

If you have a formal dining room attached to your kitchen, you might want to consider knocking out the wall and replacing it with an island or peninsula.  Not only will this help you gain more counter space, it will also open up your kitchen and make it appear roomier.

Making Changes to Cabinets

You can give your kitchen a quick facelift by resurfacing your current cabinets.  If your budget allows, you may want to consider completely replacing your cabinets with higher-quality cabinetry.  Cabinets that are constructed with dovetailing, for example, are more durable and are more attractive to potential buyers when you put your home on the market.  In addition, there are a number of wonderful cabinet features currently available on the market.

If you decide to knock out a wall between your kitchen and dining room, this will present opportunities to add additional cabinets to your design.  Since kitchens can never have enough storage, these cabinets will surely come in handy!

Get Creative with Cooking Space

If your budget allows and you have the space, you might want to consider adding a double oven to your kitchen.  Kitchens with double ovens containing one standard oven and one convection oven are particularly enjoyable to use.  With two ovens, you can easily cook your rolls and your main course at the same time.  With a convection oven, on the other hand, you can bake several racks of cookies and other items at the same time without having to move the cookie sheets around.  In addition, convection ovens can cook your meals faster and at a lower temperature. 

With a double oven, you can then put your stove top on the peninsula or island you have added to your kitchen and you will finally have the kitchen you have been dreaming of having!

These General Contest Rules apply to all ATC contests or sweepstakes. They may be amended or varied from time to time by ATC. Unless otherwise specified in special contest Terms and Conditions, no person may enter any contest more than once.

All prizes must be collected within 3 months from the date of winning. After that time, unclaimed prizes will be dealt with according to legislative requirements. ATC will not notify winners of time remaining. It is the sole responsibility of winners to collect their prize.

Prizes must be claimed in person unless winner is otherwise advised. Identification which includes a photograph will be required (examples include drivers license/passport/student card where photo included). Where ATC elects to post a prize to a winner no responsibility will be accepted by ATC for the safe and effective postal delivery of the prize.

In special situations, and subject to the absolute discretion of ATC, a winner may nominate a designated representative to collect a prize. The representative will be required to present written authorization from the winner and identification which includes a photograph for both the winner and their representative.

In the event that a winner chooses not to accept a prize, they forfeit any and all claims to that prize, which will be dealt with according to the absolute discretion of ATC subject to legislative requirements.

Winners under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian when collecting their prize. Both the winner and the parent/guardian must sign this agreement and show identification which includes a photograph.

A copy of these General Contest Rules must be signed and endorsed by any winner upon request by ATC.

Prizes are non transferable, must (where applicable) be used on the dates specified and may not be redeemed for cash.

All prizes are accepted entirely at the risk of the winner, and ATC excludes all warranties in connection with any prize to the extent permitted by law.

ATC, its agencies, affiliates, sponsors and representatives are not responsible for defective prizes or misuse of any prize, or for any claims, liability, loss or damage arising out of or in connection with any contest promoted by ATC.

All contestants release from, and indemnify ATC against, all liability, cost, loss or expense arising out of acceptance of any prize(s) or participation in any contest including (but not limited to) personal injury and damage to property and whether direct or consequential, foreseeable, due to some negligent act or omission or otherwise.

If a specified prize becomes unavailable, ATC may substitute a replacement prize at its absolute discretion.

Unless otherwise specified, the class of travel for any travel prize incorporating an airfare is economy class.

Registrants and winners may be required by ATC to participate in a photo, video and/or film session and acknowledge that ATC has the right to use such publicity photos, videos and/or films in any medium and in any reasonable manner it sees fit, unless that person advises ATC at the time of entering the relevant contest that he/she wishes to retain his/her anonymity. Copyright in any such material becomes and remains the sole property of ATC.

A failure by ATC to enforce any of these General Contest Rules in any instance(s) will not give rise to any claim by any person.

ATC may terminate any contest at any time at its absolute discretion. In the event of such termination, ATC may at its absolute discretion elect not to award any prize in respect of the terminated contest.

Special restrictions or qualifications may apply to particular contests, in which case an addendum to these General Contest Rules will be made.

These General Contest Rules may be changed at any time by ATC.

ATC may publicize, broadcast or otherwise disclose a contestant/participant?s name, character, likeness, statements or any recording of their voice in advertising or promotional activities concerning a specific contest, or ATC contests/sweepstakes generally. ATC may promote or advertise that a winner has won a contest.

Winners are responsible for any and all taxes payable as a result of a prize being awarded or received.

ATC is based in the United States. Contests hosted on ATC are open to international residents unless noted, but legally binding to United States law only.
